"Lord I want to be whole."
These words are the heart-cry of many Christians who, in spite of their
relationship with the Lord, find themselves dealing with overwhelming
anger, guilt, depression-or perhaps the nagging feeling that something
inside them just is not right.
The book of "Lord, I Want To Be Whole" by Stormie Omartian outlines seven biblical steps to wholeness, based on the power of Prayer & Scripture to change our life.
"
For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds, says the LORD." - Jeremiah 30:17
Our mind and emotions, like our physical body, need to be freed from stress, fed properly, exercised, cleansed, nurtured, retrained, exposed to freshness and light, and given rest.
Here are seven steps that will help us to do all these things:
Step One: Release the Past
Confess to God the times you have failed, and release the times others have failed you by moving in full forgiveness.
"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, & evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another,
tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you." Ephesians 4:31-32
"Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold,
I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it?" Isaiah 43:18-19
Step Two: Live in Obedience
Understand that God's rules are for your benefit, and try to the best of your knowledge to live His way, knowing that every step of obedience brings you closer to total wholeness.
"If you are willing and Obedient, You shall eat the good of the land." Isaiah 1:19
"Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says." James 1:22
Step Three: Find Deliverance
Recognize who your enemy is, and separate yourself from anything that separates you from God or keeps you from becoming all He made you to be.
"Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the LORD delivers him out of them all." Psalm 34:19
God wants us to reach out and touch Him so that He can touch us with His wholeness in every part of our being.
Step Four: Seek Total Restoration
Refuse to accept less than all God has for you, and remember that finding wholeness is an ongoing process.
"In my anguish I cried to the LORD, and he answered by setting me free." Psalm 118:5
"And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom." 2 Timothy 4:18
Step Five: Receive God's Gifts
Acknowledge the gifts God has given to you, and take the steps necessary to receive them.
"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights,
with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning." James 1:17
"As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God." 1 Peter 4:10
Step Six: Reject the Pitfalls
Avoid or get free of the negative traps and deceptions that rob you of life.
"And he who comes up from the midst of the pit shall be caught in the snare." Isaiah 24:18
"The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, to turn one way from the snares of death." Proverbs 14:27
Step Seven: Stand Strong
Believe that as long as you stand with God and don't give up, you win.
'Trusting God for every Step"
"Growing up in the Lord"
"Be strong in the LORD in the power of His might." Ephesians 6:10
"By Standing firm you will gain life". Luke 21:19
"Be Steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord,
knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord." 1 Corinthians 15:58
"Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you." Isaiah 60:1
